
Dan Salmon
Dan Salmon is one of New Zealand's most versatile and energetic storytellers for the screen. He is an award-winning documentary director and producer.
Having most recently won the Grand Prix du Jury and Prix du Public at the Festival International do Film Documentaire Oceanien. His credits include high-end television programmes such as the '2050-What If?' docu-drama series for TV3 which he wrote produced and directed, the authorial documentary 'Children of 1984', the M.F Films-produced 8-part documentary series on the history of architecture 'New Zealand At Home' and the acclaimed Made in Taiwan. His feature screenplay One Black Friday was selected for the NZ Film Commission's First Writer's Initiative in 2004 and he has collaborated on a variety of film, TVC and drama projects - from the quirky TV3 serial drama Ice House (director) and 48HOURS Short Film Contest finalist Pub Pets
(director) to the music video for the feature film No. 2's chart-topping single Bathe in the River (producer).
Dan has been developing his drama directing skills having completed an 80-week Meisner course with Michael Saccente and has participated in drama directing workshops held by tutors as varied as Judith Weston and English doyen Herbie Weiss. Dan's wide experience covers all areas of the screen industry. He has recently retired as president of the NZ Screen Directors Guild.
