David Redmon
David Redmon grew up in rural Mansfield, Texas and studied visual sociology at the State University of New York. Mardi Gras: Made in China, Redmon’s Sundance nominated feature documentary, is a witty critique of globalization. Redmon selects a humble Mardi Gras bead as his vehicle for illustrating the contrasting fortunes of factory workers in China and Mardi Gras revellers in New Orleans, who buy the beads. Mardi Gras has won 18 US and international awards and was nominated for the highly prestigious Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 2005. Redmon completed Kamp Katrina based in the post - Hurricane Katrina of New Orleans and Intimidad with producer Ashley Sabin.
Both Redmon and Sabin are currently completing three more documentary projects titled WAITING FOR JONIE, DARLINGS, and MS. PEARL all of which are set for release in 2008-2009.
