Lured by fallacious promises of hope and opportunity, a disproportionate number of Asian women are smuggled into the United States every year at alarming rates. They endure unspeakable horrors of physical and mental abuse and are coerced into repaying their debt bondage to their traffickers and madams by way of forced labor and sexual servitude. REDEMPTION explores the dramatic lives of three Asian women attempting to change their identities from “victims” to “survivors” of human trafficking. In the tumultuous aftermath of their captivity, they journey through failure, success, despair and redemption. Do they return back to Asia now bearing the stigma of their traumatized past? Or do they stay in the U.S. to assimilate into a foreign culture that once profited from their misfortune?
