USA / 2007 / Jeff Adachi / 55 mins

From silent film star Sessue Hayakawa to Harold and Kumar Go to Whitecastle, The Slanted Screen examines Hollywood’s portrayals of Asian men in film and television. The award-winning film includes interviews with Academy award-nominated actor Mako, comedian Bobby Lee (MAD TV), actor Jason Scott Lee (Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story), producer Terence Chang (John Woo’s Red Cliff) and director Justin Lin (The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift). The film contains over 50 film clips of depictions of Asian American male characters from Hollywood films spanning almost a century.
