“I am in love with The Jaquie Brown Diaries.” – Deborah Hill Cone, The NZ Business Herald
The Jaquie Brown Diaries is a new (Zealand) comedy series that stars insecure and overambitious C-grade TV reporter Jaquie Brown. Jaquie is a light-relief reporter who does fluff pieces on hard hitting current affairs show, 'McHuntly at Seven'. Along with the help of her conniving publicist, blonde bombshell Kim Sharee, Jaquie works relentlessly to raise her media profile.
But Jaquie also has to contend with a new reporter on the show, the beautiful, funny and multi-talented Serita Singh, whose journalistic style is strikingly similar to Jaquie's and seems to be stealing her thunder at an alarming rate. Serita, a Bollywood beauty has been brought in by the channel to appeal to its multi-ethnic viewers - a category of viewers that Jaquie has not been rating too well with!
The series takes a satirical look at the life of a c-grade celebrity and brings the society supplements of the newspapers to frightening fruition as Jaquie converses, romances and bitch-slaps her way up the media ladder.
